Compassion is a strong feeling of sympathy for other people’s suffering or bad luck and a desire to help them. It involves temporarily suspending judgment so that you can appreciate others’ perspectives or situations when they are different from your own. How do we develop the muscles to exercise compassion? What is hard about being compassionate? What does it look like to direct compassion inward, and have self-compassion?
